Twin Cities Nonviolent will be meeting on April 4 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church located at 1500 Franklin Ave. There is parking in a lot to the east of the Church. The main door is on the Franklin Ave. side of the Church. We will meet in the basement.
Here is a summary of what was shared by the participants at the 2/28 meeting regarding what a Week of Nonviolence might look like. We are grateful for all who shared their ideas.
At our meeting on April 4 we will begin by spending time remembering that April 4 is the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. How appropriate it is for us to work toward building a nonviolent community in the Twin Cities as we remember Dr. King’s witness. The remainder of the meeting will be focused on our sharing the ways each of us can support 10 days of freedom from violence (September 21-30).
Please come prepared to talk about what you and/or your organization is planning to offer. If you are not yet ready to make a commitment, please come to the meeting anyway. It may be that the plans of others will spur a good idea for you or you may see an opportunity to collaborate with another organization. Also, there are many ways in addition to organizing an event to help make our 10 days free from violence impactful. We will talk about the many ways to be involved at our meeting.
